The Jail Bird The light beamed through the barred window so high. And landed softly with feathers of warmth on my cheek... Its been days, weeks, months, years in my cell. Yet this moment was unlike any i could tell. I opened my eyes to see a dove brown and white inside my cell. An angelic vistor with a beautiful song singing so well. Its strange that i was imprisoned for responding to abuse And now from my humanly rights ive been refused. So i sit patiently awaiting judge Clive to intervene To open the bars and wipe the slate clean. Some say its justice but from this side of the fence. A black man got imprisoned for self defence... Yet i await the day of freedom as letters of appeal i send. As i pray for the day when modern slavery will end. Island876 @ 2018 |
