I do have a imac at home myself so iam able to compare. But I could never make my apple my only computer simply because I cant do everything I can do with windows. I dont like being restricted which is why I could never convert to apple only. They claim once you get a mac you never look back! But despite what they say this doesnt work for everyone.

windows xp has been a great operating system but eventually users will have no choice but to abandon it as viruses corrupt their system and software companies discontiue support. It will happen, the clock is ticking and eventually XP will be about as usefull as windows 98 is today. Our old faithfull will be consigned to the history books like all those before it. R.I.P Windows xp you done us proud.

although in retrospect, I agree with you emmmz333. interestingly a tech company did a big speed test on 3 major microsoft operating systems just prior to the launch of windows 8 last year, they speed tested xp, vista and windows 7. the result may come of surprise to some..........windows xp without any service packs installed proved to be the fastest out of the three! and naturally its the oldest. although using xp without service packs would present serious security issues lol, unforunately.

one of these days iam going to install the original version of xp on an old computer just to see how long I can survive online before an attack renders the system unusable! it may prove to be an interesting experiment!

security risks and lack of drivers will kill xp anyway your experiment will work i bet untill you want to use a newer device with it then your hit the wall its normal for newer os to use more resources and run slower on some limited apps that are 32bit etc. windows 8 is starting to run past 7 allready thanks to the support . personally i dont like how they are turning theire back to 7 allready as its the best desktop os

only hope for older hardware that run cr*p with 7 etc is linux then

yes linux definately. Of course the main problem with win 7 is the ram requirement. I installed it on an old pentium 4 destop recently but its as slow as a dog cos the dell is 512mb ram, when ram is low windows starts to use the hd more and everything slows down to a crawl. Trying to run win 7 on less than 1gb of ram isnt a good idea lol

the dell is a pentium 4 2.8ghz, the cpu isnt the problem cos believe it or not most of the p4s are faster than a single core intel atom in a netbook, and the atom runs the full win 7 premuim fine cos my netbook does.
