A song comes on that you know, but not heard for a while, and you start singing along and without realising, you know all the words!? Some kind of subconscious memory bank of weird, not useful shyte. Does it occur with other stuff? Like long division or mechanical stuff. Stuff I didn't think I knew but maybe on another level I've remembered and could do if I tapped into it? |

I was watching something last night and Measure for Measure was mentioned. It got me thinking and I still remember Angelos When I pray and think, I pray and think soliloquy from when I had to play him. But then I realised I remembered Isabellas Oh faithless coward, Oh dishonest wretch soliloquy as well.

This topic has now completely fkd my head with Shakespeare quotes that I thought I had forgotten or wasn't aware I even knew. Mr Dacre would be so proud.

The same for me. The only explanation I can think of is that we always had the radio on when I was a kid. I know lyrics from lots of old songs.

Music has an extraordinary ability of triggering memories.. Just think how many songs remind you of past events in your life.. They always seem to be the ones you remember most clearly when it's linked to a song....

@ slick_01 - 25.10.13 - 03:36pm It happens to me when i'm drunk but not with songs, i remember languages i learnt as a kid and speak them fluently but only when im drunk ![]() Ha see that's sort of the thing I mean. Not solely lyrics. I can have a legible conversation in german or italian, but am I actually fluent but just don't realise? |

I think that your drunken confidence might lead you to believe you're being fluent.... Similar to when I'm drunk and believe I'm good at playing the guitar..... I've seen a video... I was not good!

I recall lots of things instantly to mind without consciously being aware that I can. I think frequency, repetition and impression are a big part of it?
