A mob in Nagaland barged into the Dimapur Central Jail on Thursday afternoon, dragged out a r*pe accused and lynched him. Police said the mob overpowered jail security, tied up the man and dragged him for seven kilometres, thrashing him along the way. By the end, he succumbed to his injuries.

The Naga Students Federation (NSF) and some other local groups called a rally on Thursday to protest against the alleged r*pe. In the afternoon, a mob rushed to the jail, broke open the gates by overpowering the security personnel on duty. Khan was stripped, tied up and dragged to City Clock Tower area being kicked and pelted with stones along the way. Khan was accused of r*ping a student of a local womens college on February 24. The NSF and other groups had earlier demanded that he should not be granted bail. |

In a related update BUT this is for the much publicised 16th december 2012 delhi r*pe victim.. BBC reported managed to get the r*pists' (who is lodged in jail atm) interview and he has spouted the most atrocious things ever. The airing of the interview has been banned in India.. but went viral over the net. I'm not sure if its still there on the net.. i just read the excerpts reported in the newspapers.

The BBC Storyville film features an interview with a man facing the death penalty over the 2012 r*pe and murder of a student on a bus in Delhi.Mukesh Singh is one of four men sentenced to death for the incident, which caused shock and revulsion around the world. In the interview he appears to show no remorse, and instead suggests the victim might have survived if she had not fought back.

The film was due to be shown on Sunday on the BBC and the Indian channel NDTV. But the authorities banned its broadcast in India. The BBC brought forward its airing of the documentary and showed it on UK channel BBC Four on Wednesday night. |
