Should western followers of islam be concerned about the rise of groups such as Pegida ? 3 months ago pegida had there first march against the islamization of the german society, 350 people turned up in support. Last week 25,000 people turned up to protest and march. Thats got to be scarey, and what can be done to stop the tidal wave of support ? Pegida are mainly protesting in Germany at the moment but with the mayor of rotterdam publically telling any follower of islam that if they dont like western values or western values not fitting in to their islamic lives then they should move to a country that holds islamic values. Its not going to be long untill Pediga is a european force to reccon with. |

It's good to see the normal bloke getting up off his b*tt and wanting things done, would I go on an EDL march? No they're idiots. Would I go on a peaceful organised march with likeminded people who want to see change? Yes I would.

I live around a lot of muslims and must say as it is an multicultural area of birmingham its better than all white areas I have lived in. muslims seem ok around here, no terrorism or anything like that. Alot of the food is halal and it's not that good tho but some of the home made style stuff is nice. No need for a protest around here go into areas like Aston and it's a different story, it's not friendly at all.

Seems like common sense. If I was a prudish Puritan or Amish person.. Would I move to a fking nudist colony and complain about everything?

What's wrong with people holding onto their identity? It's just because they're German? Lol

there is nothing wrong with wanting to hold on to your identity. Only if these pegida do manage to attract support from other countrys it does have the potential to be a modern day crusade and ultimatly a lot of people can get killed or hurt. Lets see how many people turn out tomorrow for the next march. if its more than 25,000 then we have a serious problem in the making.

I agree with the Rotterdam mayor. Why does someone choose to live in a country if they don't agree with it's traditions and religious beliefs. Could it be because if they lived in country that follows strict religious law, they wouldn't have the freedom that they get living in the west.

A planned rally by Germany's anti-Islamisation Pegida group has been called off after police received a threat against one of the organisers. Meanwhile in the western city of Essen about 50 demonstrators from the far-right Hooligans Against Salafists group (Hogesa) were outnumbered by more than 2,000 counter-protesters on Sunday..... |

@ aroob - 20.01.15 - 01:15am get your forces outa the muslim lands and thn tell us to get out you cant hav it both ways pegida is not calling for musliims to be kicked out, they are calling for muslims to intergrate with in the german society peacefully. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegida as has been mentioned in other posts the muslims in the uk about 5 '/. of the population is trying to tell the majority 95 '/. what they can and cannot eat, say or think. This cannot be right ! The threats of violence and death to the leaders of pegida, by un named partys that caused the cancelation of yesterdays pegida march, also highlights that some groups are opposed to freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Althou it is not reported who made the threats, its not that hard to work out. |
