Hey guys, its been a while since I've been on these forums... Wonder if there are still any familiar faces around? HAHA. Got my s2 last year, wouldn't upgrade at all if it weren't for this silly 'charging paused, voltage too high' rubbish that started happening once my girlfriend started charging my phone with her charger... (-_-) In any case, I'm due for an upgrade and have no idea what to get. I'd get an s4 but d*mn, everybody I know has one. and with the s5 coming soon, it'd be silly to get one now. I can't wait, cause I need a mobile. Anything more impressive out there, right now? |

most top end fones are equal if not just ahead in some areas, but consider : the Sony xperia z1, the HTC one, the LG G2 (might have that last name a little wrong)

out of curiosity, does the s2 now give that message no matter what charger is being used ?

Cant you wait just a tad bit and get the Galaxy Note3??? If not then I'd say look at the Htc One, incredible device. The reason I say Htc One is the Xperia Z1 will take a while to reach our shores and you never know WRT Updates with Sony, same with the LG G2.

Yeah. 3Mel, no matter I do, that is the message that I get. Even when I charge it with the USB cable from my PC. Its just like... wtf! If there was a way to bypass it, I would. I have no idea how to fix it. Researching it gives me that the USB port is ruined, and needs to be replaced. Ugh.

Hey Polo, glad you mentioned those, as those were the ones on my mind... except maybe the G2. Had a look at HTC 1 tho... It has a 4mp cam? WTF? They call it an 'UltraPixel' but my gosh, 4?!

4 megapixel but a larger sensor than most so it takes decent enough photos apparently, and in low light conditions too. some of my favourite shots are still from my k750i and n73...

the LG G2 is better in allmost every way than the S4, but dont expect to get the same level of support you will get from samsung. the S5 will have a 64 bit processor and have a metal body like the HTC ONE. if you cant wait for the S5 I would go for the HTC ONE providing you can live with no memory card slot that is. but it has plenty of internal flash storage.

its unlikely the S5 will have a replacable battery because it will come in a unibody design

@abott | 26 September 13 |
sorry but isn't the metal body meant only for the rumoured F-series? The new high end to be introduced?

Who says the Galaxy S5 will have a unibody though? They may just make it with a latched battery door, anyone who's owned a SonyEricsson K850i will know what I'm on about.

barclays bank says it will! barclays analysts have stated catcher technology have recieved an order from samsung to produce metal housings for its galaxy series phones for 2014. catcher make housings for the iphone too. its samsungs attempt at trying to draw consumers away from rivals like HTC. the technology website tech radar has also confirmed this to be the case as have many other companies. its funny how everyone is following the design ques of the iphone isnt it? although not that iam an apple fan boy because iam not! infact ive never had an iphone and never will. in my opinion iphones are for people who are not clever enough to use a smartphone, so a kind of smartphone for dummies if you like, which why they have to be so user friendly lol. ive no doubt that comment will spark nger amoungst the iphone fraternity but its not as if they have never tried it on droid fans.

so it'll definitely be a sealed unit as far as you know Banbury ? that would be a shame

Metal does not mean a uni body, plenty of metal phones in the past that weren't unibody, from the Nokia E71 to Samsungs Bada smartphones like the Wave 2. I simply doubt Samsung will seal the Galaxy S5 and Note4, maybe the Galaxy F series will be sealed.

according to many sources yes it will be unibody, which would be a pity yes 3mel. although samsung could change their mind and go metal without unibody. I only hope polo is right. they claim the note 4 will also be 64 bit like the S5. I was going to go for the note 3 myself, but now the industry is claiming 64 bit in smartphones is the future and samsung have praised apple for going 64 bit with the iphone 5S. mind you the industry also claimed 3D TV would be a major hit in the uk but it wasnt, and as a result the good old BBC have just suspended 3d broadcasts untill further notice.

so what do you believe lol? will 64 bit tech really dominate the future smartphone industry or will it be just another white elephant? and does anybody really care about 64 bit? one thing is certain though, if its going to happen google will have their work cut out for them with android

@polo_011 | 27 September 13 |
64bit is is a matter of evolution in the SoC industry, all top end mobile chips next year from Samsung, Qualcomm, NVidia, MediaTek etc... Will be 64bit, it's just one of those things. Android is getting close to 4GB RAM chips now so 64bit will come in handy when needing to address that sort of memory. I'm sure Android will be optimized for 64bit in 4.4 if not already in 4.3.

yes in a way its not unlike 64 bit windows that is able to make use of ram over 3.5gb or thereabouts. but the question is are 64 bit apps really going to be any better? guess iam just hoping this is not just all about gaming because I would get far more enjoyment doing that on the big screen! I havnt really seen any huge benefit with 64 bit windows other than being able to use more ram, or am I missing something here lol? I certainly havnt seen any reports about consumers jumping for joy over 64 bit windows put it that way! so maybe this will be another white elephant after all. even if all sm
