April is Autism Awareness Month, the 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day, where all over the world people are becoming enlightened about Autism Spectrum Disorder and how it affects people and others around them alongside imparting information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. There is an annual LIUB event in honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part to Light It Up Blue. Feel free to join in this charitable event. |

For people who are unclear as to what this is, here goes: Autism Spectrum Disorder -ASD refers to the presence of marked abnormal or impaired development in social interaction and communication and a markedly restricted repertoire of activity and interests. This varies among individual as it depends on the developmental level and chronological age of the individual. This umbrella term includes Autism Disorder, Rett's Disorder, Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, Aspergers Disorder and Pervasive Development Disorder. 1 in 68 children is the working diagnosis for ASD in the United States.

Yes 1 in 68 is the newest results from the surveillance study according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention I'm not sure about the diagnosis elsewhere around the world.
