Should organ donation be made mandatory? Or at least a system of presumed consent be established. When you think about how many precious body parts that could be harvested from the recently dead. How many people could be given a better quality of life by organs and tissue that end up rotted or in ashes. The body, once dead has no meaning, it is just a husk. Yet more die when not given the gifts of the dead. |

This is awkward,cud it be abused if permission wasnt required? I believe that bereaved n hurting ppl need to be dealt with carefully

Of course,but i know how possessive n confused a suddenly bereaved person can feel,too..It takes time to detach urself unless u have already given it sum thought.I wud suggest that's wat ppl cud do,give it sum thought n make ur wishes known

I think organ harvesting is bad because it would promote murder and deliberate killing of innocent people. Already we have people killin young children and taking such organs as the heart and kidneys. Death cannot be avoided, but can be delayed by healthy living

There are a few pros n cons.. I'm thinkin if for religious reasons ppl don't donate, then their families would kno. But stil th fam would have th last say.. As 4 me, i'm hardly goin to use my organs.. Take it. Afta i'm dead that is.

Doesn't the uk have or is planning the 'opt out' option? Which puts everyone on the donor register list, so instead of register to be a donor if you want to which lots of people don't mind but are just too lazy or can't be bothered to fill out a form
|
||

@mandain | 5 September 09 |
This way you have to fill out and sign a form to say you don't wish to be an organ donor

As for families having the last say ladibud that has been changed in oz now, the donor do gets their wishes met

some religions believe they need their body whole. so if u make it mandatory that infringes on rights..although if perhaps offering a cash reward for signing up (which means ppl volunteered) they can solve the issue of the organ shortage. and maybe help end the black market
