That's the message from Microsoft as it reminded consumers that its support for Windows XP SP3 and Office 2003 will end on April 8, 2014. According to Microsoft marketing director Stella Chernyak that means the software giant will nix security updates, non-security hot-fixes and technical support after that date. So let the countdown begin. You now have less than two years to get your affairs in order and hightail it to more current software. ![]() |

i am sorry. i use windows xp sp3 slip streamed,no security updates,no updates,no net framework,no antimalware.. and i don't feel there is any support for windows xp anyway so what can they take away from me? sorry, but i will use xp 'till hell freezes over. and you will be trashing windows 7 when windows 9 or something better comes. more upto date doesn't always mean better. in windows 7,updates are trivial looking to me. the only thing that catches my eyes is aero and 32bit alpha

32bit alpha transparency which was,as far as i know, possible in windows 2000 professional! you who have litestep and windows 2000 professional, you are welcome to try : D so really,it seams to me windows 7 simply came with a new theme and possibly fixed some bugs in xp,i really see no performance increase but xp on the other hand seams liter to use. maybe thats just placebo cause i'm used to xp but anyway,xp is all i need. people are jumping into future too fast! more more more! they haven't ma

they haven't made a decent system, ever. if it were, averige user would for starters, not know the word 'malware'. the truth is all the malware today is just the concequence of security holes in windows. people want 1MB/s speeds, most uptodate system, most complex and obscure and then they complain how is it that things don't work, how is it that malware delete their hard drive, why they have to have *always open internet connection* to download updates from their av provider lol there is a first s

there is the first security hole. firewall in windows is so pathetic you can't tell me it isn't. 'windows have blocked *process* to protect your security* or something like that. what process? what ip it accessed? what did it exactly do? ... windows 7 may be a bit better though. but really, there are so many bugs, security holes. registry, image file execution options ffs. microsoft should first sort out the bugs in their current system, then make another. but then, there would be no profit right?

and as a cherry on the top,i recently searched for a way to display date and time in tray *on the same line* but failed miserably. i searched for a way to display seconds in clock,it seams neither windows xp *nor 7* can do that *without extra software* which can be found free or costs *money*. and i already gave money for the o/s.. then you give money for av,office,adobe.. so much from me.

oh yeah.. and the hardware lol always faster better. so we could play the top of the line, most upto date sht of today. excellent graphics, shty gameplay. whats wrong with past year games, why so quickly forgotten? i enjoy them still? enjoy my 5 - 20KB/s connection, maybe wait five minutes for the page to load, only once, next is loaded from cache and pretty fast (http 1.1 pipeline, byte serving, keep alive : ) but at least i know that is all thats downloaded lol if you run through life too fast, you wil

Dude using xp is fine, i was shocked win98 is still in use.

of course, thats all fine. it seams though that,as microsoft systems go higher, they get more bloated with useless 'features'. nothing against microsoft here by the way,but it is their work that pi*s me off a bit sometimes, how they can do so many things and yet fail at the most simple, most basic. future windows should really be focused on introducing users with advanced features behind the curtain on a subtle, simple way rather then following the popular click the huge button ![]() |

Yes, if u have a decent system, win7 is much faster than XP.... At first I didn't believe this but now I use win7 in my home pc and XP at my office... There's a huge difference in performance, comfort in use, improvements in win7... I'm not saying it only because I'm used to it.... I loved XP for a long time but after switching to win7, it changed my entire wrong thoughts I had about it... But, XP will always be a legend in OS generation....

XP will still work, there just will not be any more updates for it after April 8th 2014. That means no more hotfixes or driver updates and such.
