@ sephiroth - 4.06.19 - 01:47pm That's crazy. Should be prepaid though. Everywhere. The attendants here expect you to tip them afterwards just for wiping the window, etc. They get paid for all that anyway, covered in the petrol money. we can't afford to have self service pumps here... and nonsense, they don't expect a tip, they do it irrespective. nothing wrong in tipping them if you can tho, they don't earn much. |

Yes nothing wrong in that. Been witnessing this lately and I'm avoiding certain stations because of this. Especially this one closest to me, where within two months -two fillups- they've spilled petrol on the floor and I demanded a refund on that. Now I have to stand outside and watch wherever I fill up. |

Ugh i hate for an attendant to fill my car, i'm quite capable. Last time was in the early '90s, the only time i think, was like a village petrol station. And yeah i'll pay by card at the pump. Fk standing in a queue for 10 mins just to flick a note at some guy busy on his mobile phone. |

We have a garage in the next village where they fill you up , the old guy has retired from mechanics and tends the pump and his son and grandson fix cars ...back in the days when cars were simpler they'd pop a bulb in for you too for the price of the bulb only ....call me nostalgic but ....

Now I have to stand outside and watch wherever I fill up. you have to do that in mexico too, or you get ripped off. Twice they tried to charge us for the car in fronts petrol as well as our own. I was starting to get wound up everytime the car was needing petrol. They tried 3 times to over charge us also. fkn robbing bstrds |

I can only think of 1 petrol station round these parts where they fill the car up for you, just like bambi's, that's a small family run spot in a local village as well. Some of the larger 24hr ones make you pay up front(usually they have slots to pay by card, built into the pumps themselves). |
||
@tranie | 4 June 19 | |
the garages round here make you pay up front after 10pm and the prices go up by 2 or 3 p a litre. If im filling up on way back from work they usually let me fill up then pay. but if im in civies then upfront it is.

@ ladibud - 4.06.19 - 12:22pm so... this man is a petrol attendant and when a lady came to throw petrol in, she realised she left her wallet at home and told him to leave it. he said no, she can't drive alone and get stranded without petrol, it's too dangerous. he then took R100 from his own pocket and threw in for her. she asked him but how do you know I will come back and pay you back? I said it doesn't matter but he is a believer and believes in ppl. petrol attendants get a meagre pay her he helped someone he didn't know. this woman went back and paid him but also opened a type of go fund me thing to raise money for this man, think it near R470 000 already.... ppl have just opened their hearts and pockets to this man and his awesome deed. ... just thought I'd share some good feels. Why hasn't anyone opened a 'fund' thingy for me yet? I'm such a nice and kind person. Do it |
