It existed +- 10 000 years ago ![]() The Richat Structure, also named the 'Eye of the Sahara', is a bizarre feature within Mauritania and is thought to be natural. This was the most likely place of occurence, if Atlantis existed. So myth or no myth, we will probably never know for certain. The Sahara was also much more tropical back then. Lions roamed the area right into Europe. A tragic incident allowed for the drainage of the sea water around the Rich at Structure leaving it barren and lost to time. |

the descriptions of Atlantis matches pretty closely to the remains of the Richat, it's also where Socrates' map said Atlantis was. I think it was Socrates at least.

Mu may be imaginary, but there are some very odd structures out in the Pacific. Nan Madol, for instance.

Isn't New Zealand part of a vast submerged underwater continent?

Look at a map, turn the clock back 10,000 years or so and look at how big some of the continents/islands are.

Basalt logs that make up the walls of Nan Madol can weigh as much 50 tonnes. Archaelogists can't explain exactly how it was constructed. There were no pulleys, levers or metal used in the construction. Let alone the sheer manpower needed to shift those weights..

![]() ''Supposedly there was an escape tunnel beginning at the center of Nan Madol which was created by boring down through the reef to exit into the ocean. Scuba divers continue to look for this secret route, but so far a complete tunnel has not been discovered. Although a number of incomplete tunnels have been found. A number of divers vanished in 2012 exploring the largest of these.'' |
