your theory on the 'why' and 'how' the world came to be.

I merely re-phrased what you said, and then followed with the observation that it seems a complicated -not to mention inconsistent- way of going about things. If there is anything inaccurate please correct me.

@ quiller - 5.09.17 - 12:47pm I merely re-phrased what you said, and then followed with the observation that it seems a complicated -not to mention inconsistent- way of going about things. If there is anything inaccurate please correct me. complicated? inconsistent? well, ofcourse they are, for the sole reason that you don't believe in God nor in the possibility of a Diety responsible for all creation. 1 Cor. 2:14, the natural man does not understand the the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to Him it makes perfect sense to me, what you called inconsistent, no it wasn't, Day 1.. Light was created and seperated from Darkness, Day 4.. the stellar bodies, sun moon stars are created, you said 'the morning and sunrise created later, but evening and morning day 1' you're basing on the principle that light determines day/sunrise.. what Light is Day 1 to you? |

It's not the light, it's the 'day', etc. 'Day' as a unit of time means the approximately 24 hours it takes for a given meridian on the earths surface (eg, Greenwich) to return to any given position relative to the sun (eg, the sun directly above the Greenwich meridian) Without the sun there for the meridian to relative to, what can 'day', or its subdivisions - morning, evening, etc - mean?

As to 'complicated', why go through all this when god could issue a commandment to rest one day in 7? As for 'inconsistent', god leads by example on this law, but does not lead by example on other laws, eg 'thou shall kill.'?

@ quiller - 5.09.17 - 03:29pm It's not the light, it's the 'day', etc. 'Day' as a unit of time means the approximately 24 hours it takes for a given meridian on the earths surface (eg, Greenwich) to return to any given position relative to the sun (eg, the sun directly above the Greenwich meridian) Without the sun there for the meridian to relative to, what can 'day', or its subdivisions - morning, evening, etc - mean? you're applying day as understood in today's context, not as people in the time Moses wrote Genesis did 'yom' hebrew and its english translation day.. with several meaning but most common is meaning a period of Light, i.e when light is present in contrast to darkness Given that light already existed, and so did darkness on Day 1, the basis for the label day is possible. |

As for 'inconsistent', god leads by example on this law, but does not lead by example on other laws, eg 'thou shall kill.'? why go thru all this? He could have done many things, with all the whys' that exist in our heads. i can only tell it as it is, to the extent of what He has said (of which i have), and no further. inconsistent, the command isn't 'thou shall not kill', the command is 'thou shall not murder'. i'm confident, you know the difference, |

'Genesis Chapter 1:5-22 unequivocally declares a 7 day Creation, in more ways than can escape glaringly description. (yes, making the Universe 6000 years Old)Creation days are clearly described as a 24hr day, First, each is day is described as day, meaning day in its ordinary usage, its corroborated by the subsequent phrase And then there was evening...and then there was morning'' 'Unequivocally', 'Ordinary usage' Now you equivocate by claiming 'day' is not used in its ordinary usage.
