only works if you have a static ip. if its dynamic he will have to keep doing it every 4 days or so.

runestar is right. If you using a client/network system than its different. You say you're the admin than obviously you have to use your Network OS to assign iP's to your client machines. If its just a normal LAN (peer-to-peer) than you aren't admin. You just admin of your own PC and another machine is conflicting with yours. If thats the case do what Runestar said.

it doesnt jay.mack, it works on home network also, you set it higher than needed eg on 192.168.1.150 or something like so that the dhcp wont ever reach that, and the device forces the same address from router / DHCP server each time it boots

If u have a network connecting to it a ip adress is assigned. If 2 get same no none of them will work. To fix it get a static ip adress and assign it to ur pc. The first numbers will stay the same only the last 3 will change where u can select a no from. Once u assign a static u wont hav such errors anymore
