I'll use this topic to share useful pages or info I've stumbled across in my travels... for those who haven't succeeded in rooting their devices it may be down to you having a locked bootloader. so here's a very handy PC app made by a guy on XDA for unlocking multiple devices, and also for flashing a custom recovery and rooting WinDroid Universal Android Toolkit v2.4 Unlock Root Flash 90+ Devices I'll be using this myself in a few days with any luck. feel free to post any useful finds yourself.... |

somebody here asked a little while back if there was a way to increase your ram on an Android. at the time I said no of course there isn't. but I've been reading about something called a swap partition that gives space on your SDcard over to be used as extra memory for processing. it's not that fast because it's limited by memory card read/write speeds so not good for gaming but it should make browsing heavier sites a possibility, or anything that's ram heavy but not speed dependant. I'll post some links later |

yeah true, but an 8gig card is pretty cheap compared to a whole new phone. there are two ways of doing it too, one by partition and one by swap file, I think the second way is less harmful...

I've had nightmares with the wildfire S. I put on a jellybean cm10.1 rom that has a really nice kernel and flashed cronmod sd-ext partition script, but I suffered one of worst errors you can get on Android which is UIDs on the system are inconsistent please wipe your data partition or your phone will be unstable. needless to say wiping the data partition doesn't fix it at all and you suffer a flood of ANRs within seconds of each other. god knows how but it's the type of error that can survive a complete wipe of everything and a reflashing of a rom. I thought I'd fixed it with a repartitioning of the card but no... |

yeah I did fix permissions as well but thru TWRP, the phone isn't useable enough to install a thing while you have this error, I thought that had fixed it for a while but a reboot takes you back to signing into a google account and loads of ANRs. it (in my case) must be down to the partition as they survive flashing somehow... |
