Hey guys and girls. My darling S6 Edge gave in on me so now I'm using a J1 Ace as my upgrade is a month away but will stick it out and wait for S8+. Anyhoo, when I connect the phone to the PC, it just charges. It doesn't give me the usual drop down from the Notification Panel where I can select the Mass Storage mode. I've tried different cables, PCs and usb ports. I've toggled USB Debugging on and off in the Developer options too but no luck. Any help guys? Thanks in advance |

are you on stock firmware and have you ever flashed it ? it specifically mentions your model number there.

ah, it just might be the case that it doesn't actually support that feature as while searching I came across an app thread where one j1 ace user said the app had got the feature working for him. http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-universal-mass-storage-enabler-beta-t3240097/ unfortunately is does require a rooted phone to work (all apps that alter how the system functions will need root access). |

What a mission it was to root this phone. Its on KitKat 4.4.4 stock firmware. That app not working.. keeps saying no mass storage gadget or fuse even though there is an external card |

you should of been able to just use towelroot on kitkat. other than suggesting you read a good chunk of the beginning and end of the topic. if you see nothing too helpful posting your problem in the thread might get you some help. it's still active in there based on the date of the last post.

Change the usb cable. The cable you are using is most probably faulty. It will show that option with a good cable.
