In the same way you guys never wanted Android and now use Androids, you will move to Foldables For now these Foldables are expensive, but in a year or two they will be priced like a normal Flagship and at THAT point it makes no sense getting a standard Slab phone when you can have a 2-in-1 Smartphone/Tablet, that has a 4500mAh batter, huge displays, but is the size of a normal phone Folded. In 5 years time, we are going to have some insane devices in our pockets, the Mate X feels complete, from a Software standpoint the Interface is done, they just need to finalize the Hardware. I think Samsung is at the same point with the Fold. I always think back to Nokias vision with the N95, there is a computer in my pocket, I think Foldables are literally taking us to that place that Nokia was trying to envision over a decade ago. It's insane. Gotta love technology. |

I'll carry on with candy bars until I'm forced into getting another phone with movable parts. They always break

@ crail - 21.03.19 - 05:14pm I'll carry on with candy bars until I'm forced into getting another phone with movable parts. They always break Something always breaks with slabs to. My Note8's charging port has been on the fritz lately, no idea what is going on, but it's a similar issue I had with the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, my 1st Android where the USB port just died. Anyway, let's see what they bring. Foldables should do 2 years easily, anything before that can mean Warranty repairs in many countries so the OEMs will ensure these things can at least do a full contract period, which is all I need. Recently I have been using a mix of my own phones and review phones so my personal devices don't get as much strain either. |

Yeah my s8+ port has been replaced not long after I got it, and it's still dodgy, but these things are cheap and simple. Sliders are bad news. That's a fact I've learnt over the years. I will probably end up with a fold one day

Oh dear. It's only been out five minutes. Imagine the trouble people will be having 6 months down the line. No chance I'm getting one. Normal phones with no folding parts are unreliable enough

Going to take A LOT of Research and Development to get this one right it seems. This is now the very pinnacle of mobile innovation so Samsung are taking quite a bit of risk releasing this soon. Looking at the two that broke due to build quality, it may be a few iterations before they get this truly right. Maybe in 2022.
