I just realised I don't have the problem you outlined and wondered why, since we're using the same Opera browser, but then I realised that even with Opera open, if I want to search I say 'Ok Google', the results field will open up the YouTube app, dunno if that helps.

for my part my specific interest is when clicking on links for youtube in the browser. in older versions of ''for Android'' it didn't bother me because playback was crystal clear and jumped straight into landscape full screen. now though that auto rotate has gone and the images are unwatchable. the exposed module cr*ppa-links should work for this purpose but doesn't. it's supposed to force links back to their native apps over the browser versions. I've been enjoying having all playstore links open up the playstore app for months now, but I can't get youtube to do that. made a topic in opera forums that nobody is replying to... oh well |

Ok, for crisper and faster video playback from YouTube, you could go into Opera settings and change the user agent to 'mobile' (I'm assuming like me, you've got it on 'desktop') this will give you 'm.youtube' links - the page will load faster and you've got a big obvious 'play' icon on top of the video, rather than the normal fiddly stuff with the full Web version.

@ garion - 29.06.15 - 05:53pm Ok, for crisper and faster video playback from YouTube, you could go into Opera settings and change the user agent to 'mobile' (I'm assuming like me, you've got it on 'desktop') this will give you 'm.youtube' links - the page will load faster and you've got a big obvious 'play' icon on top of the video, rather than the normal fiddly stuff with the full Web version. surprisingly that does actually seem to work. playback is in normal living colour but just not ever in 720 or 1080p I'll use this in Lue of anything more final Mr G... |

maybe it's down to my kernel in some way, I use a custom one ktkernel, guess I'll ask folks in that thread... the feedback helps narrow the search down so cheers for that !!! |

Ah, that could well be it - I'm using the stock ROM; back in the symbian days flashing was almost essential if you wanted to get anything done with your phone, but Android does more or less anything I'd ask of it out of the box.
