Just bought a 55 plate bmw 3series,the front speakers sound totally cr*p,i think they're blown. Is it hard to replace them,do i have to take like the whole door panel off,or would it be best to take it to the main dealer and let them do it? |

Yes you do need to remove the whole door pannel but it's not a hard job as it's clipped on. If your looking for a how to on replacements either google it or have a look on bimmerforums.co.uk for more info. Your biggest issue will be the wiring as BMW tend to harness all the electrics for the door into one bundle. If you bought from a main dealer then you could technically claim under your 12 month

Warranty. If you didn't however it'll cost you a good few hours labour for them to remove and fit new speakers and your looking at 120+ an hour. As I said it's not a hard job. Just make sure you put something on the ground to stop the pannel getting damaged. You'll also need to remove the screws from behind the door handle and the airbag symbol before you can get it all off

Thanks for your helpi think i'll take it to the professionals cos knowing me i'll mess it all up and won't be able to get the panel back on. I'll take it to a car audio place i think, its gotta be cheaper than the main dealer

Well, its fairly simple, just open the door panel, unplug the speaker (it has a plastic connector at the back that just clips onto the speaker - no need to worry bout wiring), replace with new speaker, fit panel back on.
