A Capri with a boxer engine in it..... Ummm nah. 24v cosworth or a Ford V8. More work though. Rover V8 works too and it's good cos it isn't too heavy. Plus let's face it..... It's a V8!

Leave the engine in the scooby rather get a 20egi mazda or 4agze toyota should be cheaper and easier to fit

or like Spartan said V8 but don't think rover V8's are readily available in SA I know Toyota V8's are cheap with tiptronic gearbox

Rover V8 is a common conversion because it's all alloy, cheap and common for bits at least here. I seen a lot of them. Although it's work to make the mounts fit properly. They are also hugely tuneable with common upgrade bits as you would imagine. Guy down my road scr*pped his SD1 Vanden plas but kept the engine. Easily sold it within a fortnight.

i once saw an ad for a mk3 escort cabrio with a mazda v6 engine but the engine were that heavy the car kept bottoming out.. all that money shoulda taken it to power engineering instead

A scr*pyard instead perhaps. One of the worst cars ever built. So much scuttle shake it was frightening. Had the the body rigidity of a wet tissue. I have seen several in accidents and they made better accordions than cars afterwards

The Rover V8 isn't a great engine, my carb'd 1.6 has move power than a mates 3.5 V8 Rover had when it was new. It's a very old design and has inefficient ports, combustion chamber, and valve chain. But a boxer Subaru engine won't go in a Capri without massive work, due to dimensions. My choice would be something like an Alfa V6 or Ford-Jag V6/AJV8. Or BMW straight six or even V8 if it'll go in. |

The rover V8 is a legendary engine. You can take a 5 litre from an old TV Chimera or Griffith if power bothers you, they made well over 300 horsepower. The reason it's such a good engine was it's versatility and reliability.
