Hey all. My jetta mk2 have a starting problem. Starter is allready done over. When I start the car first time in the morning it starts but ten minutes after I switched it off it don't want to start but if I let it stand for more than 1 hour it starts. What can the problem be? |

Try getting a tune up, injector cleaning and an oil change.

Ah, a carburetor, that opens up a can of worms. Unfortunately I am only specialized with diesel mechanics.

Oh, one issue could be that the float in the float bowl of the carburetor is stuck. That leads me to wonder if your carburetor needs to be rebuilt.

Sounds like a typical VW hot start issue. They all suffered it. Google it, I haven't worked on many bit before my time but I have heard of all sorts of mods to combat it

Thanks to you all who have tried to help. Finally got the problem sorted. New battery, new starter, new distributor and all is fine now but really would have liked to know what the prob was.

VW hot start issue. It's a design flaw with the engines and carbs. All you can do is overpower it as you have done, better battery and fresh starter
