How difficult would it be to fit a second hand abs pump on a BMW compact 316i? The BMW stealership were quoting silly prices for supplying and fitting a brand new pump and refuse to fit a used or reconditioned unit. The 'new' pump is identical(same part number) |

D prob wit d bmw is, wen u repl d abs pump or module, ul hav to link it up wit d ids to reinisiate it to d pcm. Also while bleeding d system it needs to b hooked up to bmw ids. No way sum1 else can do it.

Ok thanks. I'll take it to an independent bmw specialist...I wonder how much he'll charge me for this 30minute job

Wer i live d bmw/landrover/audi rate an hr is round R400. Nd theyr nt gonna charge u jst half an hour.. Ul pay 1hr wds nd then another hr for labour. Ul look at roughly R1000 for labour incl tax. Then d parts nd consumibles. I dnt undrstand why ppl who owns landrover, bmw, merc etc always complains about maintanance costs while they knew it even b4 they bought d vehicle..

Hey! I'm not moaning about normal maintenance etc but I do take issue with an abs pump failure on a car that isn't that old anyway an independent bmw mechanic reckons it's a two hour job(must like coffee!) and has quoted me a reasonable 100quid. Got the pump from a salvage yard for 110 . I've saved myself a fortune!
