I work as a salesman for CPW. I'm not trying till categorize people but I really want to ask why. Why do British people, 90 of them want iPhones no matter how great pit powerful. less costly the next phone can be. I ask a few of them why the iPhone 6 when you can go for the new Note 4 or even an LG G3 that will save you a s**t load of cash give you a great experience or even a very experience them an iPhone for less money? Most answers I get are like 'I just like iPhone' or 'All my friends have iPhone so I want one.' trust me no matter how much I try too sell them a different phone that may benefit them in terms of their own budget, they only want iPhone! |

I didn't say it's not up to them. I asked why do 90 percent of British people think the iPhone is the best phone.

Great marketing and it is the best phone for ease of use for many users, same reason why nokias dominated for so many years, they were much more user friendly compared to motorolas and the rest, then people got used to it are familiar with how it operates and are reluctant to learn a new operating system

They don't. Market share is not 90 percent iPhone in the UK

Save a s**t load of money? For other android phones perhaps, I recently just saw the price of Samsungs and they are just as over priced as apple,A note 4 edge is the same price as the most expensive 6s plus with 128gb |

do you work at cpw in the uk or south africa? Whatever the case then you are clearly not aware of the british market. Although a large percentage of uk customers want an iphone the figure is nothing like the 90 percent your claiming. This has been the case since other alternatives have arrived ie samsung galaxy and htc phones. While Cpw in the uk may sell more iphones, it is not the only retailer in the uk.

The pw is clearly not in touch with uk statistics or handset prices |

the latest uk statistics show that iphone ownership in britain stands at 31 percent which should provide an indication as to how many people actually want one. Iam surprised its that low actually, but those are the latest statistics. In any case the iphone 6 can be had for as little as 50 pound on an upgrade so its hardly out of reach to contract customers. Most contract customers are already paying between 30 and 40 pound a month anyway.

that ownership percentage is due to many people switching to other platforms, people now realising that there are good, if not better alternatives to the iphone. However some have also switched to ios from other platforms. On the plus side the iphone is an easy smartphone to use

as mandain said the iphone is the best for ease of use.

And that 31 percent is all models combined, still a fair bit considering only Apple makes it

And judging by how the word ''iPhone'' is spelt, I'm guessing that was typed out using iOS predictive text most likely from an iPhone? |

lol at predictive text. but yes the percentage is high considering only Apple make them.

I know a lot of people in my area who would like a new iphone but cos they are on pay as you go and unable to get a contract it makes the iphone out of reach for them cos its too expensive buy sim free, but the same is also true where other high end phones are concerned and not just Apple. After all you cant buy a galaxy note 4 for a hundred english pounds, or for that matter a galaxy s5.

that said, its interesting to note that a lot of british people are very brand conscious, more so than other countries, and this is one reason why chinese phones have never been very successful in the uk. the uk has always been more class orientated than its neighbours, in simple terms too many snobs, which is right up apples street . All The manufucturers know this.

@ mandain - 10.12.14 - 10:04pm And judging by how the word ''iPhone'' is spelt, I'm guessing that was typed out using iOS predictive text most likely from an iPhone? Nope. I use an LG G3. Anyway what I was saying. With the customers I deal with almost 90 percent of them through out my day are asking for iPhones. I work as an agent from South Africa. Just yesterday I've asked a customer why an iPhone because I have a cheaper deal for you with a handset that's better for your needs than the 4S 8GB. The S3 Neo. They told me that It's because of status. I was like okay that's fine. I understand. Lol |
||
![]() |
@mandain | 14 December 14 |
An almost discontinued 4s with 8gb gives you status? ![]() |
||
![]() |
@banbury | 15 December 14 |
the mind boggles lol. but the status is attached to the name Apple, rather than the handset specifications. most people who buy iphones are not the technically minded type who would even bother to check specs. as long as it does everything they want and its got the brand status thats all that counts for them. the cosmetics are more important to the average iphone buyer who value build quality, bling and brand awareness over technical specifications. its rare to hear iphone owners boast about specs to their mates, either because they dont know the specs themselves or because there is perhaps no
|
||
![]() |
@banbury | 15 December 14 |
or because there are perhaps no specs to boast about in the first place. one thing puzzles me though, how can an iphone be a status symbol when so many people have got them? after all a status symbol is supposed to be something thats exclusive. even my mate has an iphone and he doesnt even work, so how can it possibly be a status symbol?! thats the bit I find hard to stomach.
