I learn it cause I go to geek sites. The different numbers tell you your nearest cell tower, how strong the signal is. The number up where your signal bars should be is a measurement of cell reception strength. The closer to zero, the better. -50 to -80 is optimum reception. -99 and higher and your gonna lose signal and drop calls.

I get -113 on my 3gs which is awful. Its pretty much an expensive ipod right now. I get -90 to -95 with the 3g, which is ok. I get -75 with my HD2, which is fabulous. All in the same exact area. Theres different codes for different devices.
