Interesting post. Ref the N95, at the time there was nothing else to compare with it. Some s60 may have lacked complexity as you suggest but many thought s60 to be more user friendly than winmo with a lot features buried in sub menus. Of course the situation today is rather different with vastly superior platforms to symbian and budget android phones which equal if not acceed the N95 features.

The only realistic way to judge a device is to use it yourself this is true. And although an expert review may give you a good insight into the device s features the end result often relates to the individuals opinion of the handset regardless if they are expert or not. And not everyones opinion is the same and thats why its not allways wise to take reviews for gospel.

Must say though, i miss the days we debated things such as Camera performance, sound quality, raw functionality and benchmark scores, these days its just OS, apps and UI. I miss the days of Nokia N82 vs. SE K850 vs. Pixon vs. ZN5 OR N95-8GB vs. Sam Innv8 and HTC TyTN vs. Nokia E90 vs. SE X1 etc...its was all about hardware and how it performed and how far you could take it. Symbian and WM were...

Symbian and WM were great for this, people comparing customizability and hardware. Android and Meego are great for this to and at the same time have great UI, i hope Meego gathers momentum and Nokia realise they should've pickd it instead of limited and dumbed up Windows Phone.
