@ dan27notts - 28.02.16 - 07:29am Of course, im not pro nuclear weapons, i wish they'd never been invented but they have so we have to be realistic. If there was a world wide agreement on disarmament or other countries that i dont feel are trustworthy got rid of theirs then id gladly let out government get rid of ours. We've had relative peace in Europe for near on eighty years thanks to nuclear weapons ...Look at how things were before they arrived ...so speak for yourself, personally I think they're the best invention ever |

There has been for decades.. just isn't exactly adhered to.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_on_the_Non-Proliferation_of_Nuclear_Weapons |

my constant thought about this is why the need to update ? other than pleasing the US and meeting their expectations of all western nations spending 6 percent of GDP on weapons what's to gain ? does the current trident program have am expiration date, have the warheads stopped being nuclear or maybe the missiles no longer fly as far as they used to ??? |

Its the submarines that need replacing, not necessarily the missiles. And im not sure where 6 percent is coning from, but NATO expect countries to spend arounf 2 percent of GDP on defense |
