is shocking here by us, yes I realise the same old ppl won't care, and it doesn't bother me, I will post anyway... so, lately it seems as if children and women are being murdered and r*ped as if it is the latest in thing... ppl are marching against it, but again I wonder, esp in cases like these, what does that help, it isn't going to make a murderer or abuser go, oh dear, I am so wrong , I need to stop ... what are your views on marches and the strengths thereof for cases like these. |

The real problems here in the uk is immigrant muslim gangs that the government with no balls will not admit to. |

there are enough posts abt the Muslims, I don't want this post to go that route either ...

it gives people who reasonably have had a strong mental and emotional reaction to such things something of some kind that they can do. people would rather do something, anything than nothing and be driven crazy.

rocking in a rocking chair also gives us something to do... but we stay in the same spot. unless someone polished the floor anyway... does it actually help stop the abuse tho, does it make ppl think twice. I doubt it . as for raising awareness, we already know murder and r*ped is wrong and illegal.

Yeah, I never understood the whole 'change your profile pic to show you support such and such ' Great. But what more can you do, what more will you do?

was reading an article the other day that was talking about this, it does seem that this kind of attitude is ingrained in some cultures of south africa, they genuinely feel they have the right to treat females and kids in this way, much the same as part of our societys culture who also believe they have the right to treat people badly. There is no quick solution. Even if you started educating these people today on their very first day at school that is wrong then it may still take 3/4/5 generations for it to be learnt and accepted. As for a short term fix then tougher prison terms capital punishment etc may spread the message faster

Going on a march is on a different level to fb filters etc and other forms of inaction. It's probably empowering to people in question, Reclaim the Night was one that used to happen here. I think it's important to encourage it, people should have a voice.
