@ mikeymk - 15.10.17 - 05:20am Autos are mobility cars. This.. I like controlling the car I'm driving. I hate new cars and the way they handle as well, all this new tech to make driving ''easier'' I don't want an easy drive I want an enjoyable one |

That. All of it. Plus modern cars do a darn fine job of bringing the arrogance and rudeness out in people. But manufacturers make cars easy to drive anti-socially because that's what people want. Or is it? Or is it just there's no other choice anymore..? |

I've had a few basic torque-converter versions. They're quite fun in a way, because they just shove further forwards as they change gear. Even though I can slip-shift a manual with my right foot held down it still makes the auto feel a bit quicker. But you lose time overall with that vague connection that's always there. Or not, as the case may be. You have a bit of flexibility with the kickdown, which is adjustable. But it's hopeless compared to the flexibility of a manual. There are all manner of takes on it these days, twin clutches, flappy paddles, I haven't tried any of that. Fine for a race track but I just don't want that sort of thing. |
