it used to be the countries capital at one point if I'm remembering correctly and has some fantastic buildings that are older than many nations.

There is archeological evidence of a settlement there since neolithic times, approx 8000BC. The Romans made it their capitol of Britain and at one point the de-facto capital of the entire Roman empire(second only to Rome itself). The Emperor Constantine I died in York, or Eburacu m as it was then and his son, Constantine the Great was crowned his successor and ruled the empire from there. |
