I've noticed as I get older 8 hours solid, straight through sleep seems to be getting less often. I get 3 hours here 2 hours there. .but seldom 8 straight hours. There are many reasons of course but I just wondered who if anyone gets a good 8 hours regularly? |

i wish i did but my shift pattern would not allow it. If im one of the 20 or so early shifts i could be starting work at 4.30am I have to be up at 3.30am would mean going to bed at 7.30 pm to get 8 hours sleep. Who goes to bed at 7.30pm If im on lates then i goto bed around 4am and the building site at the end of my garden starts work at 8am drilling, hammering, shouting and various trucks delivering stuff usually wake me around 10 / 10.30

The maximum I tend to sleep for is 7 hours straight. Usually, I sleep for 6 hours more or less.

I've found if I have a few beers I can sleep straight through but the quality of sleep is rubbish.

Most of the time i can and do, and i don't find it beneficial to get more, so i almost always sleep well enough. Between shifts i tend to get 8-9hrs if work is challenging - today i've had six hours and it's all i need, as my shift last night was quiet. 6-8 is normal on my days off too, whether the brat's here or not. The only time i can struggle is if turning my body clock from days to nights, i usually either get it right or get two long sleeps, occasionally i'll fk-up and end up not being able to get enough sleep. But that's pretty exceptional, relatively rare (once a fortnight max) and not really with the point of the topic. I have only woken from a night shift in the last hour, had about six hours as i say, and as you can tell, i'm wired already and pretty much ready to write a fkn book on it. |
