I'm referring to those college/university programs where you work from home via the internet. Are they any good? Do you think they are more convenient or are more difficult, needing much more effort? Who here has done this? |

I did some very interesting courses over Coursera, I don't know about finding a career path through such module of study, but I do know that it's extremely exciting to learn so many different things from works of some great professors and teachers. Just learn away. |

I don't see why anyone would pay for this, the piece of paper you get at the end is of questionable value.

im too lazy to do these kind of courses, i start off with the best of intentions. But because i have no get up and go i get bored after the first or second module. I much prefer to actually go into a classroom and study amongst others.

If you do a course from a reputable organisation backed by many company's and industry and education bodies then it's valid but don't expect anyone to take you seriously if you put on your CV .. Studied on UDEMY |

It doesn't have to be paid, all the courses I did were free, and knowledge alone is valuable without a piece of paper attaching any other external value to it. I mean understanding even an aota of the complex science of astronomy seems to open my mind, I don't mind if the degree doesn't help me end up being in NASA. |

It requires a lot of discipline but the graduates of distance learning courses tend to be much better employees when they enter the workforce.

That sounds great, I just think people need to be wary. |

I have known some friends who have done that and it looked it worked out well. I thought it is pretty convenient for some, especially when they have kids at home to tend to. It is a good motivation, too. I have been doing my own CE units online and looking forward to do some post grad studies soon.
