So people with SA and Ozzie accents are becoming the bad guys in films, series and videogames nowadays. Even in Titanfall 2 the bad guys of the 'Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (also referred to as the Interstellar Mining Corporation)'/ IMC faction are mostly SA and Ozzie-sounding.

Yes. We do well as mercenaries, and so forth. Maybe 'cos we sound intimidating. For example: Elysium The A-Team (movie) Oh, and also Arnold Vosloo..makes a good bad guy in so many movies he's in. |

Also noticed a sh*tload of movies nowadays are shot in the Western Cape. I can name a few: The Maze Runner 3, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Doomsday, The Chronicle, Dredd..amongst others. Employing many locals as actors/fillers in the process. I just see the terrain and I know instantly. |

The recent Judge Dredd movie? Or the old one? I really admire the guy who played him properly. Did not take that helmet off even once! Karl Urban. |

Wouldn't go down well here and internationally if shot under the cultural boycott lol Even some US companies are getting the flack for having dealings under the pre-Democratic government. |

I have a Highschool friend, Nkateko, who's in the film industry (camera man in mostly homebrew productions, like those eKasi short films) and a cousin too - he moved to CT from Pretoria to pursue a film career. Rest of SA is sh*t basically. W. Cape is where it's at!! Though the theater acting industry is alive in Gauteng. Did drama at my college at beginning of this year. |
