My main nostalgia fest is in songs. Currently listening to a playlist I made of songs that take me straight back to certain times. A lot of songs from my late teens, early twenties were recommendations from old pro regulars. Making me nostalgic for them.

songs are pretty good for sending you on a little trip but for me smells do it the best. every once in a while I'll a catch a whiff of the disinfectant used in my primary school days and suddenly I'm back there queuing for lunch or forming an empire in the playground. also some of the soaps we used in my younger days, pears clear soap or vosene shampoo work well for me. |

The problem with things like that is their nostalgic power fades with every re-visit. Again, cars are a good example of this because a 25yo VW Golf is still a recent sight, due to its lasting popularity - however, it'll have been many years since you saw something quickly forgotten like a 25yo Daewoo Espero, so that car will be more nostalgic. The trick is to find common old things you've long completely forgotten about. |
