@ xivanax - 15.11.19 - 10:18pm Ha ha my dogs do the white poo. Its the raw feed. Just crushed bones that are left Did ya have a tv back then? It was all about the 'portable' 14in colour telly I had in my room, with the round aerial and built-in handle in the plastic casing that nobody trusted on the stairs. My stepmum, who knew her place, had an old black'n'white one in the kitchen with the chrome twist dials and ivory casing. She'd had it since she was a kid apparently. Sure, she was posh, but the telly probably wasn't invented yet. The one in the front room is where it's at, though. Usually an ITT brand from Radio Rentals. Real faux wood sides, gunmetal plastic front, eight buttons, and a full 21ins of glossy dome. We had video recorders, too! My mother and her husband were there first, with their Betamax top-loader. It had a remote control but it was permanently attached via a cable of some 6ft or so. Big mechanical buttons that were more like foot pedals. My dad wasn't to be outdone - we got the best touch-sensitive , Matt black, VHS thing available to rent. And my mum worked in a corner shop which had everything, including video rental! As a kid I was raised on all the fkn films, man. From Convoy and Smokey and the Bandit, to Airplane and Star Wars. They sold scoop ice cream too, big choice of flavours, and I still got my 15p mixed bag. And still read all the car magazines. I remember the Paddy Pantsdown newspaper heading, and the new Ford Sierra. And when Cadbury's launched the Wispa, I got mugs, pens, all sorts. And I had a Raleigh Grifter. At the time, with 3 gears. And a water resistant Walkman, though I had to turn the tape around to rewind it, so I could listen to Eddie Grant and Madness again, whilst climbing trees. Epic days. The young today, wrapped in a cruel haze of snowflakism and online madness, would just be in awe at how things were for us. And the cars.. don't get me started. Infotainment? My dad's MG Maestro used to talk! |
