Teachers should be leading by example and getting in whatever the weather, and so should the kids. I can't imagine in Victorian times they had snow days.

@ dodgey - 11.12.17 - 05:28pm You do know buses can crash any time of the year nah its due to teachers unions giving teachers extra time off. Dont they already get enough holidays? My god they are off work more than they are in work. Stop saying things that are wrong, Dodgey. Obi's correct. Also, the unions have nothing to do with schools closing, it's decided by the governing body - either the council or the managing body of the school. Think teachers are lazy? Watch this - except I know you won't because you'd rather just carry on pumping out nonsense. |

In my day we would have to walk 5 miles through waist high snow barefooted..just to get to school. Then get six of the best for being half a minute late.

Oh is it wrong that a bus can crash anytime of the year and is it wrong teachers get nearly half the year off already? Its down to the unions saying teachers can't travel to schools in the snow, everyone else can manage it . So should they. When did u go to school? In the 90s same as me? We very rarely had the school shut, seems nowadays schools shut if there is only 1mm of snow |

@ dodgey - 11.12.17 - 05:51pm Oh is it wrong that a bus can crash anytime of the year and is it wrong teachers get nearly half the year off already? Its down to the unions saying teachers can't travel to schools in the snow, everyone else can manage it . So should they. When did u go to school? In the 90s same as me? We very rarely had the school shut, seems nowadays schools shut if there is only 1mm of snow Yes, it's wrong that they get nearly half the year off, even without taking into account how much of their 'free' time and holidays is spent marking books, writing reports, planning lessons etc., along with a whole load of other administrative nonsense that they never had to do when we were at achool. Again, it is nothing to do with the unions. At all. It's nothing to do with teachers travelling to school, either. When you and I went to school, we didn't live in such a litigious society - many parents nowadays threaten to sue schools over the most trivial things, just as they do in America - which has a much longer-standing tradition of 'snow days' for the same reason, among others. |
