Wow your dish looks amazbawl. Hete in bonnie scotland the obvious is Haggis. Ser ed with neap (turnip/swede) and tattie (potato) Here in the North East we have a roll/pastry called a Rowie. The rowie has different names across the shire and different techniques of making it. Basicalky its flour lard and salt. |

Portuguese cuisine is big here. Maybe has to do with large communities of Angolan and Mozambican nationals (many of them are of Caucasian origin). Others come directly from Lisbon or Madeira. That's how Nandos was born. Peri-peri very popular. My family love going to this one Portuguese coffee house. They make great cappuccino and dessert pastries. Awesome food dishes too! |

the geordies have something similar, called a stottie cake, its actually a bread type thing it just called a cake for some reason.

Roll/buttery/rowie/morning cookie It was originally made for the fishermen on their long trips out at sea. Hence the salt. I presume to preserve. Very salty. Now different bakers did different styles. Gooey was rank. Now there was a bakery called Aitkins. The did a crispy rowie. Slightly darker and saltier. Was lush with butter and jam for breakfast. Then a rowie n butter for lunch. Plain rowie with soup for supper...1 rowie is almost your daily calorie count. I could go a hot rowie n jam right now |
