@ richeet - 12.09.19 - 09:13pm It was reported today that a drone came close to hitting a emergency helicopter at1300 metres . if it wasnt for the pilots reactions this could f been a disaster . Having had all the scares at heathrow and gatwick surely drones should be scr*pped or do we have to wait for a fatality to happen We have to wait for a fatality to happen. thank you |

Up to 10 years or 300,000 for producing or distributing unauthorised drones/uav I know this is sarcasm but that is the way it will most likely end up going, or some version of it at least. Some kind of maximum height limit isn't such a bad idea to reduce the likelihood of air traffic incidents, like the one described in this topic for example, 1300m or 1.3km is a bit too high to be safe in my opinion. Maybe have a 500m height limit, which should still be plenty high enough for most applications and then have a licence requirement for drone use above that height or whatever height limit was deemed to be appropriate for casual civilian use. |

Look at it this way, drones are a bit like RC cars, it's fine to play with one in your own garden or on private land but using one on a busy public road would be considered dangerous and irresponsible, so flying a drone into an area with air traffic has to be just as dangerous as that and could potentially have much worse consequences.
