There's a theory that holding or opening doors for women is sexist, the implication being that you're too feeble to do it yourselves and need a big, strong man to do it for you. It's just courtesy, so people feeling the need to associate negativity with it is ridiculous. Shaking hands is quite an odd custom when you look at it objectively and strange that it's survived to the present day, given the origins. I do hate a limp, clammy handshake though - if you're going to do it, do it properly. My manners are impeccable, when they need to be. |

I've read that the original hand shake derives from opening your 'sword hand ' . ie I mean you no harm |
