Except of course that it is a total euromyth, much quoted and beloved by euroskeptics, that the EU tried to ban bendy bananas. They didn't. What they did was introduce different grading standards for certain fruits, including bananas, whereby the fruit is sorted into different categories(extra, grade I and grade II) according to their shape, size and quality standard. Only bananas that conform to a certain size and shape are allowed to be labelled as being the 'extra' grade, the rest are simply labelled as being of one of the other grades. https |
