go in bios and check if hard drive is detected or if not try a system repair with the disk if ur xp vista or 7 or could be hdd on its way out there the reasons what it could be so check them and see how you go

it's simple... use proper HDD diagnostic test to check for hdd errors... if theres none... replace S-ATA cable... if that doesnt help.. reinstall OS... if that doesnt fix... replace motherboard.. thats all.......
