My laptop hdd locks up n gives a rattling s0und after abt 3minutes of use.. This started 2day when i waz copyng large amounts of data onto the desktop.. Now thers ova 70gbs of data on my desktop, culd this be causing the problem? |

how big was the drive to start with, copying to desktop meens theres two lots of the files on the drive one in where they was origonaly stored and then in the decktop folders, this can haapen when the drive runs out of space as the operating system needs space on the hard drive for storage of temp data for it to run, windows wont run properly on a drive thats completely full, or the rattle sound

could be from a badly fragmented drive and the read/write arms on the disks going crazy back and forth locating information.

The drive is 300gb,, its 15 fragmanted,but as soon as i initiate the defrag,, it l0cks up again..Trying to m0ve files 1by1 frm the deskt0p 2 a f0lder in the C:/ drive

Booted in safe mode, evrythng moving sm0othly (in safe mode), so it must b a certain driver thats causing the lockups.. Stil investigating, thanx silvR66
