So I've been thinking that when next gen consoles are finally released, all current graphics cards will start having trouble playing next gen games. If you think about it, current gen consoles are seriously underpowered compared to even modest PC's that are available now, but still we have unoptimised games that have trouble running on 680 SLI systems. |

Depends entirely on how powerful the next consoles actually are. If they are really cutting egde, then certain games may struggle on even faster cards. However not too many simply because it takes a while for games to really exploit new console hardware as well and by then PC has overtaken again. Oblivion for example ran perfectly well on a 7600GT which was a 120 quid card and Xbox 360 was 300 quid

Ditto for quake 4, Prey, etc etc. Most next gen games on 360 which was a high tech console didn't worry midrange cards too much. Thing is, next gen consoles may not be really advanced. Because of the recession chances are nobody will build a really expensive console again and they won't beat a weak PC even from day one

They won't unleash the full potential of what is available,we won't see proper cutting edge hardware for years, next gen consoles won't be that much better than they r now,we have to remember that the companies are profit orientated, there not going to sell the latest tech because there is too much money to be made by selling us a slightly improved version of what they already have

Ya. All you need to do is go find the benchmarks of Quake 4 or Call of Duty 2 to see that a decent midrange PC with a 7600GT kept up and even beat xbox 360 right on launch day. A 7800GT/X1800 destroyed it. By the time stuff like Gears of War finally arrived PC made a massive leap again and the 8800 series arrived

consoles ,if they had to use cutting edge specs on a console ,the more they'd make em pricey ...

They are more pricy when they launch. Even 360 was 280 quid for the pro pack 7 years ago. Which would be like 350 quid in todays money
