Greetings to you all in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
The 8th chapter of Acts gives us the picture of the early churchthat was persecuted and scattered. The scattered church was preaching the Gospel everywhere. Philip went down to Samaria. His preaching and the miraculous signs brought great joy to that city. As he was busy in his ministry in Samaria God led him towards an individual- an Ethiopian eunuch who was traveling from Jerusalem in a chariot.
The eunuch was reading in Is. 53: 7,8. But someone had to explain the meaning of the passage to him. The Spirit drove Philip to join the chariot. We read in Acts 8: 30 that Philip ran up to the chariot. The world is in great need-the need of the Gospel. We have to catch up with the world as it is running fast. As the charriot would not stop, Philip had to run to it. Had he not run as guided by the Spirit he would have missed the opportunity.
Our activities for the Kingdom of God need acceleration. Let's run when the Spirit prompts us and grasp the opportunities. The story of the eunuch ends with baptism and the sudden disappearance of Philip. If we move on fast, certainly there is a rich harvest waiting for us. When Philip's time was up the Spirit took him away. Let's run and finish the task before the time is up!
