Media player classic. You can adjust it to play video using DirectX 9 in the output settings, which makes it brighter... And you can resize and stretch the picture so you don't have any letter-box borders on your screen

Vlc 1.8 is the best...... It is very light and runs smoothly. I like it most because it can play region code protected DVD easily. Vlc thumsss up.....

i'd say winamp though with dvd's and broken files its not so perfect so i got vlc for that. Now i dont even have to install k lite codec pack and use media player classic with win7. winamp meets all my musical needs not to mention the awesome dsp plugin dfx. so i watch my movie stretched to fill da screen with theatre like sound. Mind blowing.
