See he doesn't want to bend the knee so he doesn't want to be under her rule which means he wants to build an alliance with her, I can just see it happening.
It's kind of going that way, little hints and suggestions like it's all coming together with the Starks forming again and now they're a formidable threat.
I've always seen it as the Starks show, about them and their perilous journey until their triumphant ending and which better ending than a wedding where a King and Queen rule in a peaceful land.
