8ta today (23 June 2011) launched adata promotion which significantlyundercuts any other mobilebroadband offering currently availableon the SA market. 8ta launched two data products, a10GB data bundle priced at R199 permonth and a 10GB + 10GB MidnightSurfer service priced at R299 permonth. Both services are available on24 month contracts. 8tas 10GB + 10GB service offerssubscribers 10GB of data per month,with another 10GB of data from 00:00to 05:00.

8tas new pricing is significantly more aggressive than Vodacom, Cell C and MTNs 2GB promotions priced at R149per month. It also undercuts Cell Cs 5GB per month data offering priced at R299 per month on contract. 8tas new promotion is jokingly referred to as the Project Hulk special because of the aggressive pricing.

The new 8ta promotion is a data-only special where subscribers have the option of either using their own modem or purchasing a modem from 8ta. 8tas price for a 7.2Mbps modem is R349 while a 21Mbps costs R699. Out of bundle data is priced at 30c per MB. Users should note that this offer is only available on the 8ta network, and not on MTN roaming. The promotion kicks off on Sunday,26 June 2011, and will only be available for a limited period.

muth* F.... how dare they pull these cheap low blows... when virgin came to south africa n was gonna do free net, telkom was one of the companies (voda n mtn too) who complained and paid pepoles in govt to pass minimum cellular tarrifs act... if it wasn't for these a...holes we would have way cheaper net way back... n does this mean my adsl cap gonna get changed too? cause that's a total ripoff...

still way overpriced technically... my tb bandwidth onb server costs me just over R100 a month... so still rediculous... oh and i heard from a mate opera mini mods give free net on heita anyway, so why pay?

oh, and telkom trying to pull the wool over y'alls eyes too... everyone gonna see them as the liberators when they where the major cause for why telecommunications is years behind in SA... their greed is why we been getting ripped off... like they had intrests in voda n mtn so keeping prices high was good, n now they own their competition, aka neotel... got stakes in mtn n voda too...
