Anyone got an idea what I can get that's got decent capabilities but does not need external power from power supply. I know the gtx range is good. Had a really old card, 8800GTS, but my 450 watt power supply was struggling to supply power to it, and it died. Thankfully no damage to any other part of my pc. |

I know cr*p power supply. Installed spare ATI 4350, but it's even more painful than than the 8800GTS. Need to buy something better, can spend upto R1000, but don't want to end up with something only slightly better. Must be nvidia.

is pci-e 3 cards backwards compatible with the pci-e 2 slots. power consumption of that card is ok for my pc without having to upgrade my power supply I think. My 8800GTS was 122watts. I see the GTX750 is 55watts. Price new is quite a bit above R1000 though. Anyone know of what I can get that's decent for gaming? I'm taking it anything in my price range won't be spectacular though.

Yes, that's a great price. It's a pity we so far apart. I put a old ATI 4350 that I had laying around in for the meanwhile. if I thought my 8800 GTS was bad. This is far worse. Lol.
