I've just got a new phone, Nokia C2-01, and am constantly getting 'failed to connect to the internet' messages. Is this a problem with opera or is my phone just a piece of cr*p?! |

theres an option in opera mini to check if your access point is working properly. use that, as its not likely to be opera with the problem. you could ask your network to text you the settings for an access point and mms

You should also try going into 'settings/advanced/protocol' and try switching between 'http' and 'socket' (http/socket in more recent versions) and check to see if one or the other works for you.

I've done all of the above and it's still not working. I can only put it down to the phone being a bit rubbish!

What network are you on @mark522? I'll have a look round and see if there's any other access points you could try. Are you also getting fails using the built-in browser, or is this only Mini?

Yes Garion I'm on orange. Opera mini is virtually unusable on this phone. My phone's browser is marginally better

I believe you'll need to setup an access point for java apps, this should be in: 'menu/settings/configuration/personal configuration settings'. This page may also help, it's the opera mini settings page for Orange UK, and also includes a link to the Orange auto-setup page: http://goo.gl/z4SXV

i ve used opera mini 7 on that phone without any problems with the connection, and also opera mini 4 and opera mini mod 2.06. have installed java applications over 1MB in size and havent yet encounter any limit. the phone is not rubish at all. you seam to be missing a setting, it can be pretty tricky. also, if your connections take too long, try changing opera mini version. i ve got my phone with opera mini built-in in internal browser bit but clearly, that one didnt work good enough for me

you need to define an access point name in opera mini and if your phone browser works find then its just a setting in opera mini which is probabley just the network setting

if you cant get opera to connect to the net, its not possible to get into the opera settings to change anything, the mini opera on my viewty suddenly stopped working, its a real pain.
