@ 3mel - 18.01.16 - 07:56pm you're not in trouble until you leave the store... ya know, like psnality had already said... Think they can get you on if you attempt to leave, seen a couple times in Boots and Tesco they lock the doors before the shoplifter can get to them. |

@ mab21 - 19.01.16 - 09:51am I don't think that's the problem, most boxes have a security tags but the product inside, eg aftershave doesn't have one and ppl steal it because the shop will not notice but then when you want to buy aftershave you find an empty box ![]() Also reminds me that a cpl of weeks ago I went to a general shop where they had a shoe section and I wanted to try on a few peers and you know nowadays they don't display a full peer because they are afraid of shoplifters, however, i found empty boxes, I think the shoes inside were stolen and the shoplifter found a way somehow to make peers lol *I'm sure I don't mean 'peer' or 'pear' even but I can't remember how is written lol* ![]() |

Asda now has giant stickers that they put on crates of beer once they've been sold to show security that they've been paid for

Once I went in a shop and I bought several items, among which there was a little porcelain doll that the shopper forgot to put in my bag and I couldn't find it when I got home. Lucky me it was a cheap one. Did the shopper shoplifted me? ![]() |

If I remember correctly, from when I did retail security (fucking nightmare)... Stores don't care to do anything unless it's three items or more, or above 10 pounds in value. I've heard Asda are quite lenient, since many stores don't actually have security on the level they were employed. So they would be busy elsewhere, notably stacking shelves.

They have to be able to prove intent to steal. You can be arrested for shoplifting before leaving the shop. Imagine you go into a clothes shop and pull the security tags off clothes and put them in your bag. There clearly is intent to steal them there and they can arrest you before you walk out. Accidentally putting something in your pocket and then pulling them out and saying you want to pay for them isn't going to get a conviction. |
