@ ungers - 22.12.15 - 05:12am Soooo....Telkom now offers 90 mb/s internet uncapped....(Not to be confused with 90 kb/s) For R699....Why do I post this? Coz it's really fast, and worth the money...download a movie in 3 mins flat....about time South-Africa woke up and smell the roses...Perhaps this bit of info can help fellow pro members living in SA.... but its still telkom |

@ dnp.boy - 22.12.15 - 03:24pm not yet many firepools still to be built for security reasons Many people dont know about networking and its speed. I may get high speed but downloading stuff is still slow. Your ISP speed is only the speed you get to connect locally, when about 50percent of worlds internet is based in the US lol |

Its simply a waste of money unless you are in for net anonymity. Most people use vpn for pirate downloads but those people are mainly US citizens who are easier to prosecute. Plus, vpn have many restrictions and those good ones usually doesnt allow you to use torrents coz it take up alot of their bandwith.

You need a seedbox service for torrents.

@ 4juice - 22.12.15 - 05:13pm Its simply a waste of money unless you are in for net anonymity. Most people use vpn for pirate downloads but those people are mainly US citizens who are easier to prosecute. Plus, vpn have many restrictions and those good ones usually doesnt allow you to use torrents coz it take up alot of their bandwith. VPN main purpose is to bypass restrictions to begin with, so I find it funny when you stated that vpn has many restrictions, I would like to know the many restrictions it has. Since nothing in this life is perfect, I agree it has a few cons, one of which is the Internet speed via VPN tends to be a bit slower than the one without VPN. I also agree many VPN providers don't allow torrents usage, but at the same time there are a lot of cheap decent VPN providers that allow torrent download. There is even a free VPN sevice which is very good from vpnbook, they have about 2 servers specifically for p2p download, though it's a bit techy to set up, but if anyone needs help using it, I'd gladly guide the person. Many VPN providers these days allow you to test before you buy (via demo accounts), so you know the quality of the service you're buying before hand. |

No, its main purpose is to protect your traffic. You cannot access EVERYTHING you want versus using your own local line. I still cannot access certain game servers on my playstation with a vpn connection. And free vpn. You shouldnt even use these. How can you expect someone to provide you a service that cost money and give you for free? Surely there's a catch right?

And cheap vpn... No providers who are charging 3 bucks per month can remain profitable and also run a 12 carriers mix of tier 1 providers, that unless they are cramming so many users through a line which resulted in terrible speeds despite a high end network.

@ ungers - 22.12.15 - 05:19am No torrentz and p2p allowed, but a cloud account can take care of that.....anyway, will be getting mine as soon as they can process my application.....hopefully by the beginning of January 2016....... I have applied for LTE through Telkom at those speeds but they throttle you after 50 gigs...they won't throttle for streaming, gaming etc, but for downloading from torrent sites they will throttle. This does not apply to off peak times from midnight to 6am where normal download speeds will resume...I was one of the first 50 customers in my area to apply so get it for R599...have to wait a week for them to deliver the modem and LTE simcard |
