Not looking after our homeless is a political choice. They looked after both during Covid. Right wingers like the 'what about our homeless' line when talking about Asylum Seekers but they'd fume if they actually got given help. It wasn't so long ago they was frothing at the mouth at the thought of helping feed British children in poverty.

Tory politicians and supporters wanted asylum seekers on a barge the other week and apparently that cost more than hotels. Just shows people aren't bothered about the cost at all they would rather pay more to see them in squalor

Always amazes me when Tory,UKIP or any right wing thinking person moans about our own homeless. The people you vote for create huge rises in homelessness.
Also you never hear of any of these people who moan about our own homeless taking one in or offering them a bed for the night.

Some folk wanted the foreign aid budget spent here in the UK. Can't start moaning about it now if that's how they originally felt.

Oh deary me brexiteers, you may want to sit down for this one! Cruella's scheme to send asylum seekers to Rwanda may in fact be illegal under the brexit withdrawal agreement negotiated by the tories with the EU and signed into British law.
It turns out that the withdrawal deal they agreed, legally withdrew us from EU legislation covering immigration but it fails to include anything at all about withdrawing us from the entirely seperate EU legislation covering asylum. Which, subject to an upcoming decision by the Supreme Court, would mean that it is illegal for the Home Office to send asylum seekers to Rwanda or anywhere else that a claimant has no prior connections with.

Shockingly, this would be a rare instance where the tories weren't involved in fraud of some kind, it was plain old fashioned incompetence and/or ignorance that appears to have led to the government's crack team of negotiators* sent to make the deal with the EU, not actually knowing what the laws on immigration and asylum are, or that they are 2 different things covered by 2 separate sets of EU legislation.

* one imagines/hopes this would have included a small army of lawyers and expert legal advisors, wouldn't it?
